What is the newest version of OS X that my MacBook can be updated to?

Recently I purchased a secondhand MacBook. It is currently running OS X 10.4.11 and I would like to update it to the newest possible version of OS X. Here are the specifications:

As is, 10.6.8. If you install more RAM in the computer, 10.7.5.


1. Click here, install the DVD, and run Software Update.

2. After upgrading the RAM, go to the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion 10.7. Your computer needs to have 2GB and should have 4GB installed before doing this.


Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC software such as Microsoft Office 2004. If you upgrade the OS, back up the computer first.
